I began this trail odyssey in the shadows of Pikes Peak Colorado in the late 1980's doing rudimentary trail repairs during trail rides and helping the local park ranger and trail groups... Through the 90's I logged over 10,000 hours of volunteer hours working in the Colorado Springs and Pike National Forest area honing my skills and passion for trail work. And in 1998, we started our company to accommodate my continuing involvement in outdoor recreation and recreational trails.
That was a long time ago... Since then, TrailArts has performed consulting, planning, and construction on over 400 miles of natural-surface shared-use hiking, mountain bike, motorized, and equestrian trails throughout the mid-west and western United States. Our clients include contractors, municipalities, county agencies, state agencies, non-profit organizations, and private landowners.
We've developed trails in a variety of environments including: Foothills Shrub lands, Ponderosa Pine Grasslands, Juniper Forest, Sub-Alpine forest, Desert, and various elevations of riparian plant communities. And our planning and construction experiences range from gentle terrain with sparse vegetation, to steep rocky slopes of Douglas Fir and Aspen.
Our mission is to promote and advocate the development of natural surface recreational trails that are cost-effective and sustainable, minimize human impacts to the environment, and provide enjoyable facilities for the trail user.
We believe our reputation as a leader in the trail industry is due to this unwavering vision, our unique understanding of the needs of the trail user and land manager, and an appreciation and respect for the artistry of Mother Nature.
We are proud supporting members of the Professional Trail Builders Association (PTBA), the International Mountain Bicycle Association (IMBA), American Trails, and the National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC).
Long Live Long Trails!
